Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Spanish writer-director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren’s “20,000 Species of Bees,” a tender drama about growing up trans that recently won a Berlin Film Festival Silver Bear. The New York-based distributor is planning to roll out this topical title — in which the child protagonist explores her gender identity — in U.S. theaters in late 2023, followed by a wide release on all leading home entertainment and digital platforms. The announcement was made by Film Movement president Michael Rosenberg and Jennyfer Gautier, the head of international sales of Paris-based distributor Luxbox.

Music Box Films has acquired North American rights to Babak Jalali’a immigrant drama Fremont, which premiered to acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival before moving on to SXSW, slating it for release in theaters later in the year, with a home entertainment bow to follow.

Naman Ramachandran Music Box Films has acquired the North American distribution rights to “Fremont,” the critically acclaimed drama from Iranian-British filmmaker Babak Jalali. The film, which premiered to much acclaim in the Sundance Film Festival’s NEXT section and later screened at SXSW, stars newcomer Anaita Wali Zada alongside Gregg Turkington and Jeremy Allen White. “Fremont” follows mid-20s Afghan refugee Donya, played by real-life refugee Anaita Wali Zada, who is struggling to adjust to her new surroundings in Fremont, California. Working at a fortune cookie factory and having lonely dinners at a local restaurant, Donya finds it challenging to connect with the culture and people around her. However, an unexpected revelation leads her to use her cookies to build a bridge to the outside world.

It’s an incredibly complex system to investigate. But as Birch, a native Brit, explores topics in “Dead Ringers” like the American maternal mortality rate, the history of obstetrics studies and postpartum depression through the lens of the country’s fictitious most-prized and talented OB-GYNs, a central theme of inequality becomes clear.

Aerosmith will be embarking on a farewell tour of North America later this year.The extensive run of shows will kick off in Philadelphia in September and will continue making stops throughout North America until late January 2024, where the band will sign off for good in Montreal. According to a press release, the shows are set to “celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band”.

Ed Sheeran has shared details of intimate North American tour dates, which take place amid his stadium tour.The pop titan kicks off his ‘+ – = ÷ x Tour’ (‘Mathematics’ tour) in North America next month.He will stage more intimate performances at 14 theatres and auditoriums across the US and Canada during the stadium shows. Ed Sheeran is going on tour this summer!

Ed Sheeran is hitting the road. As the 32-year-old pop star gears up for his upcoming "+-=x Tour" (pronounced: «The Mathematics Tour»), he announced on Friday a special run of intimate shows to coincide with the release of his new album, (pronounced: ""). «I'm playing some smaller theatre shows in the U.S. this summer, so I can play the entire way through with full band in an intimate setting,» Sheeran explained on social media. The Subtract Tour will take place in theaters and auditoriums in 14 cities across North America, beginning in Clearwater, Florida, on May 19 and wrapping at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, on September 22.

Last August, LL Cool J pulled off his first Rock The Bells in the aftermath of a lawsuit in which he won the trademark rights to the popular New York hip-hop festival, named for a 1985 cut from his debut album, Radio. Today, he’s announced that he’ll be taking Rock The Bells on the road this summer, joining powers with Live Nation to present a “once-in-a-lifetime touring experience and a celebration of Hip-Hop culture” called “The F.O.R.C.E.

Summer 2023 will close out with the beginnings of a North American tour from British six-piece Black Country, New Road. The experimental rock band will play the United States and Canada starting August 25 in Vancouver and running for 17 additional dates, with the tour’s end at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York.
