Alzheimer's disease is an extremely common condition across the UK in which symptoms develop over a number of years.
Early signs of dementia can be hard to spot as they tend to overlap with struggles like anxiety and depression. It can be difficult to tell what is a symptom of Alzheimer's or just another ailment as people can change each time you see them.
The NHS says signs of the disease include difficulty concentrating, struggling to follow a conversation, memory loss and becoming confused about the time and place, according to the NHS. Adding to the list could be a sign that one neuroscientist says occurs whilst parking, reports the Mirror.
Neuroscientist Robert Loveset out to helping people understand the early warning signs of dementia in a recent in a TikTok video. In the clip on his channel @robertwblove, he explains how someone not being able to park their car straight could be a red flag sign of Alzheimer's.
Robert references brain scans of people with Alzheimer's done by brain disorder specialist Dr Daniel Amen. Love said: "The first thing Dr Daniel Amen found was that the parietal lobes started to decay - the parietal lobes are involved in sensory input information. So the early warning sign is people getting lost or people having trouble parking straight."
Robert also revealed in another video that there is a "surprising" connection between sleeping and Alzheimer's. In the clip, he said: "If you don't sleep, your brain does not function correctly. The number one thing is that sleep reduces your risk of depression and anxiety. Depression is a major risk factor for Alzheimer's'."
Robert also added that getting your rest at night is "essential for making new memories".
