A woman who was found dead at a home in Peterhead on Tuesday evening has been named locally as Elizabeth Watson.
Tributes have poured in for the grandmother across the community with countless people describing her as a "lovely woman" who always made time to say hello to everyone she passed.
Officers were made aware of a concern for a 58-year-old woman at Catto Drive in the Aberdeenshire town after the alarm was raised at around 6.15pm on Tuesday. Upon arrival the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police launched a probe following the discovery. The force confirmed this morning that a 30-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the woman's death.
Peterhead has been left shocked by the passing of Elizabeth who was well-loved by all that knew her.
As well as being a devoted mum and grandmother, she was a member of Apex Church and has been described as an amazing neighbour.
Tracey Smith told the Record: "I knew her through her eldest son. She was a lovely lady, a great mum and a brilliant grandmother."
Helen Watson added: "Quiet lady, always said hello in passing, so so sad to hear this, thoughts with her mum and dad." Friend Elizabeth Milne said: "One of my best pals totally devastated. Heartbroken. Precious memories of all our times together thoughts with all her family."
John Allan commented: "Shocked at this terrible news today, You were a legend my quine. Goodbye for now but will see you again when it's my time."
Paying tribute Amanda Cruickshank said: "So so sad she was a kind soul. Thoughts with her family at this tragic sad time.
