Tom Hanks Movie ‘A Man Called Otto’ Shifts To Christmas

The 'Let Me Entertain You' hitmaker - who has been honest about his battles with addiction and the difficulties of life in the spotlight - suggested the Hollywood actor and Oasis legend appear to have come through relatively unscathed. Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: "I play this game, that who has got through that [fame], come through the other side and gone, 'I enjoyed every bit about it, and I'm totally mentally really well and I'm happy to continue.

It has become a Saturday Night Live tradition for 10-time host Tom Hanks to appear in the sketch comedy series’ Halloween episodes. He did it again this year, albeit not as his popular character David S. Pumpkins. He made a cameo at the end of skit set at an AA meeting.

Over his long career, Tom Hanks has established a rock-solid screen persona as an affectionate, good-natured father figure. The culmination of this squeaky clean image was perhaps his Oscar-nominated performance as TV host and legendary mensch Fred Rogers in 2019’s “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” But more recent films like “News of the World,” “Finch,” and especially this year’s “Elvis” have seen Hanks embrace darker, more emotionally ambiguous characters.  That trend continues with “A Man Called Otto,” an upcoming comedy-drama from director Marc Forster in which Hanks plays the lead, an aging curmudgeon contemplating suicide.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Damien Chazelle’s Hollywood epic “Babylon” will open in theaters across the country on Dec. 23. Paramount initially planned to debut the movie in select theaters on Dec. 25 before expanding it nationwide on Jan. 6. Sources close to “Babylon” suggest the earlier release date points to the studio’s confidence in the film, which carries a $78 million production budget. The news comes the day after Sony amended release plans for “A Man Called Otto,” starring Tom Hanks, which was supposed to debut nationwide on Dec. 14 and will now open in select theaters on Dec. 25 before expanding nationwide on Jan. 13.
