Tim Beddows Dies: Managing Director Of UK-Based Network Distributing Was 59

Albert Brenner, a production designer and/or art director on such films as Bullitt, The Turning Point, Pretty Woman and Backdraft who racked up five career Oscar nominations, has died. He was 96. The Mirisch Agency told Deadline he died December 8 in his sleep.

Nick Holly, manager, writer, producer, and co-creator of the ABC comedy series Sons & Daughters, died Monday, November 21 of cancer, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Santa Monica, CA. He was 51.

Legendary Entertainment and Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group have launched a multiyear worldwide film distribution partnership pursuant to which Sony Pictures will market and distribute Legendary’s new upcoming theatrical film titles, the companies said Monday.Legendary and Sony Pictures are aligned in their ongoing commitment to theatrical distribution as a driver for other “downstream” windows and the theatrical window’s long-term value for films.As part of the pact, Sony Pictures will market and distribute new Legendary theatrical releases worldwide excluding China, where Legendary East will handle all marketing and distribution activities. Sony Pictures will also handle home entertainment and TV distribution for the titles it releases.

Brown, who has served as SVP of Digital Strategy, Marketing and Distribution for Neon since 2017, has overseen the launch of the home digital portal Neon Cinema and manages the studio’s film library, which includes the last three Palme D’Or winners at the Cannes Film Festival: Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite,” Julia Ducournau’s “Titane,” and Ruben Ostlund’s “Triangle of Sadness.” Brown also founded the home entertainment distribution company DECAL in 2021 and will continue to serve as its co-president. “Andrew’s knowledge of the players, the platforms and the history of cinema all converge to make him a one-of-a-kind executive,” said Neon CEO and Founder, Tom Quinn.  “He’s been here from the beginning, and we look forward to continuing to grow NEON together.” Neon’s upcoming slate includes the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion winner “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” a documentary from Laura Poitras on photographer Nan Goldin and her activism to expose the Sackler family’s complicity in the opioid overdose crisis.

Neon has elevated Andrew Brown to President of Digital Distribution. The exec who has served as SVP of Digital Strategy, Marketing and Distribution for Neon since 2017 will also continue to serve as Co-President of Decal — the home entertainment distribution company launched by Neon and Bleecker Street last year.

The Artist & Manager Awards took place in London last night, presented by the UK’s Featured Artists Coalition and Music Managers Forum.Most of the winners were known before the event took place, however there were shortlists for the two breakthrough awards with the winners announced during the ceremony. Beabadoobee took the Breakthrough Artist prize while Callum Reece was named Breakthrough Manager.Other big winners on the night included Becky Hill, who was declared Artist Of The Year; Burna Boy’s manager Bose Ogulu, who was Manager Of The Year; Tim Burgess, who took the Artist’s Artist prize; and Martin Hall – who manages the Manic Street Preachers, The Script and Wet Leg – who was presented with the Managers’ Manager Award.Despite the celebrations, FAC and MMF CEOs David Martin and Annabella Coldrick began the evening with a sombre warning, stressing the ongoing challenges facing artists and their managers.
