TikTok star Harrison Gilks has died aged 18. Harrison was sadly diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare type of soft tissue cancer – in November 2020, but received the happy news that he was in remission in February last year. His remission was short lived, however, with Harrison going on to be told in June 2022 that his condition had become untreatable.
He then documented his bucket list on TikTok and won over the hearts of thousands on the video sharing platform. Harrison died “peacefully” on Thursday, 30 March. His devastated family have since described him as being their "sunshine on a cloudy day".
Announcing the news of his passing, Harrison’s heartbroken mum said in a statement, as per The Sun: “His smile could light up a room, his laugh could cheer anyone up. “He was our sunshine on a cloudy day. "He always found good in every situation and touched the lives of many with his messages of hope and encouragement through his TikTok videos, where he chronicled and shared his journey with cancer with the world." His brother also confirmed the sad news on Harrison’s TikTok page as he posted a video thanking everyone for their support.
He captioned the video with the hashtag ‘f*ckcancer’. The late American Tiktoker’s funeral will be live streamed on the platform today, Thursday 6 April, at 4pm Atlantic time (8pm in the UK). Harrison boasted over 318,000 TikTok followers and used the video sharing site to document his cancer journey.
In a devastating post shared in July, the late teenager informed his fans that his cancer had become terminal. “This isn't the normal type of stuff I post, but I found out today that I have terminal cancer,” he said. “I was cancer-free for a little bit, but unfortunately, it came back.
