Three police officers have been injured after missiles and flares were thrown at them outside a football stadium ahead of a Europa Conference League match tonight.
West Midlands Police said three officers were injured following disorder outside Villa Park ahead of the match on Thursday night between Aston Villa and Legia Warsaw.
The force said away fans were not being allowed into the stadium after missiles were thrown at officers - and a 'significant policing operation' was continuing in the area.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, police said: "We're currently unable to allow away fans into Villa Park following disorder outside the stadium which has seen missiles thrown at officers.
"Three officers have already been injured and a significant policing operation continues. Please avoid Witton Lane where possible."
Images taken at the scene show officers attempting to put out flames said to have been thrown at them on the ground.
Police dog handlers were also called in amid the disorder and another image shows a police officer being picked up from the ground by colleagues after reportedly being hit by a thrown flare.
Legia Warsaw fans were sectioned off from the home vans outside the stadium before the game, with police horses also brought in.
The match, however, kicked off as planned at 8pm tonight.
Aston Villa can secure their passage to the Europa Conference League knockouts as Unai Emery's side host the Polish club at Villa Park.
