This Morning host Holly Willoughby announced a big last-minute change to the ITV daytime TV schedules amid the news that Russia has invaded Ukraine. Thursday 24 February's episode of This Morning was running five minutes behind schedule, with an important news bulletin about the rising tension in Ukraine taking its place instead.
When the ITV morning show's hosts Holly and Phillip Schofield welcomed their viewers following the slightly late start, Holly, 40, took the opportunity to explain the delay and how it would impact the rest of the programme. She said: "Good Morning and welcome to your Thursday This Morning." "We're bringing you the latest on the situation in Ukraine via our colleagues at ITV news both at 11 o'clock and midday." It's expected that the news bulletins will follow in an hourly pattern throughout the day as the situation develops.
Later in the programme, Phillip updated viewers once more, before crossing over to the next news bulletin. He said: "Right we're going to be be back in a moment, right now, though, we are heading back to ITV news for an update on the events in Ukraine this morning." This comes after fellow ITV show Good Morning Britain were forced to cancel an interview with comedienne and actress Dawn French.
The star was scheduled to make an appearance to chat about her solo stage show, Dawn French Is A Huge Tw*t. However, Dawn, 64, revealed it had been pulled last-minute so that the news programme could focus on what was happening in Ukraine.
