People across Greater Manchester were looking to the skies in unison on Friday afternoon in the hope of catching a glimpse of the Red Arrows flying past.
The air display team, officially known as The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, flew their distinctive Hawk fast-jets through the region as they made their way from their base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire to Blackpool Airport.
The journey took around half an hour as they flew over Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire before moving up through the Peak District. They then passed through Glossop, parts of Oldham and Rochdale.

The distinctive red Hawk trainer jets then flew over Heywood, central Bury, northern Bolton and Horwich before reaching Burscough in Lancashire and turning towards Merseyside and Cheshire.
But if you weren’t one of the lucky few to catch the squad in action then fear not, as there’s a very special reason why they’re heading to Blackpool Airport.
The Red Arrows will be based there as they prepare to take part in a spectacular display at the Southport Air Show on Saturday (September 9). The squad are due to take to the skies there at 12pm - although this is subject to weather conditions.
