The White Lotus is saying farewell to the Limited or Anthology Series category at the 2023 Emmys following the news that the popular HBO series has been renewed for a third season.
If you need a reminder, the show emerged as the big winner at the 2022 ceremony, where it picked up wins in nine categories, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Series star Jennifer Coolidge also picked up the win for Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series. See what else the show won here.
However, Variety confirmed that the show would now be up for nominations in the Drama category.

Per the rules for the awards show, to qualify as a Limited Series or Anthology, a show needs to wrap up a plot within its season. In the case of The White Lotus, most of the plot points were resolved in the first season. However, Jennifer reprised her role for the second season, which is up for awards this year.
With it’s renewal and continuing storylines, the shift was mandated before nominations were announced for the upcoming ceremony.
The Emmys are the only awards show implementing the change. The outlet noted that The White Lotus is already competing in the Drama category for both the SAG Awards and the Critics Choice Awards.
