Swedish House Mafia took a cue from The Weeknd and also shared the image, sans caption. The news comes just two days after it was confirmed that West had pulled out of the music festival. A source told ET at the time, «Kanye has dropped out of Coachella.

Following the tragedy, West replaced Scott on the Coachella bill.

Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorAs if it didn’t take long enough to get to the 21st installment of Coachella — what with a pandemic, four postponements and yet another recent Covid spike — when original Sunday headliner Kanye West pulled out two weeks ago, Swedish House Mafia had to transform their vaguely defined position on the lineup into a headlining set. In short order the Weeknd — who is still deep in work on his HBO series “The Idol,” which he cowrote, coproduced and stars in — agreed to bump up his previously planned brief appearance with the EDM titans to a co-headlining spot with them, but he had just two weeks to pull together a set.
Coachella attendees have spoken to NME about who they believe should’ve replaced Kanye West on the line-up, and how they feel about the rapper pulling out of the festival. After a year which saw him banned from the 2022 Grammys and banned from Instagram, Kanye decided to exclude himself from America’s biggest music festival, just 11 days before he was set to headline.News of his departure was followed by the announcement that The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia would replace him on the line-up, closing out Sunday night on both this weekend (April 15 – 17) and next weekend (April 22 – 24) of the festival which takes place in Indio, California.“I feel like he’s dealing with some demons and anyone who needs support, we should give them that grace,” Emma McCardell, a 26-year-old attendee from Seattle, Washington said when asked about Kanye’s drop from the line-up. “If people need space, let them have their space.”Her partner, James who is also 26, shared in that sentiment.

The Weeknd, 32, is gearing up for his big performance at Coachella music festival, where he and Swedish House Mafia are taking over Kanye West‘s headlining slot. “Even though everything is coming together at the last minute, Abel is not stressing about Coachella,” a source close to the “Blinding Lights” hitmaker tells HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “The fact that this is all being coordinated pretty much at the last minute isn’t much of a concern and he’s confident this will be pulled off without a hitch.”

Kanye Westdropped out of Coachella, organizers announced that The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia would be taking over his slots- and drama quickly ensued behind the scenes. According to Page Six, Coachella organizers tried to pay The Weeknd less than Ye, and the singer demanded to receive the same $8.5 million paycheck, threatening to pull out “an hours notice.”Ye dropped out of Coachella on April 4th, just two weeks before the first weekend.
Kanye West, 44, is one of the biggest and richest rappers in the world, but he still left a lot of money behind when walking away from his upcoming Coachella gig. The talented artist was apparently going to be paid $8 million for the headlining performance and Coachella was also going to pay an additional $500,000 for production costs, according to sources at Page Six. The impressive amount still wasn’t able to hold Ye down though, as he cancelled his appearance less than two weeks before he was set to take the big stage.

Swedish House Mafia x the Weeknd will perform together at Coachella.
The Coachella Music and Arts Festival announced today that Kanye West would be replaced as a headliner at next week’s event by The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. This year’s Coachella runs April 15th-17th & 22nd-24th.
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia will replace Kanye West as the Sunday headliner at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April. They'll join Harry Styles and Billie Eilish as the festival's 2022 headliners, performing in Ye's scheduled slot on both weekends of the festival, which runs from April 15–24 this year. Swedish House Mafia were already announced as performers at Coachella 2022, though their headlining spot marks an upgrade.
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia have been announced as last-minute headliners for Coachella 2022, replacing Kanye West.Last week, it was reported that Ye was pulling out of his closing night headline sets for the two-weekend event, which takes place April 15-17 and April 22-24 in Indio, California. The news has now been confirmed by Coachella, who took to Instagram this afternoon (April 6) to share a new line-up poster featuring “Swedish House Mafia x The Weeknd” on the Sundays of April 17 and 24 in place of Kanye.Swedish House Mafia had already been scheduled to perform at the festival, with The Weeknd now joining them for a bill-topping joint set.“I’m so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and the Weeknd finishing out the Sunday night slot this year,” Coachella organiser Paul Tollett told Variety of the news.“Coachella has a special relationship with Abel [Tesfaye] and I’m so thankful to have this upcoming performance with these iconic artists all on the same stage.”“The Party & The After Party,” Coachella labelled the news.
Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorAs predicted, Swedish House Mafia and the Weeknd will replace Kanye West at Coachella on Sunday night. They will perform in the festival-closing Sunday night slot, joining Harry Styles (Friday) and Billie Eilish (Saturday) as Coachella’s 2022 headliners.Although many media outlets reported that the Weeknd would take the slot himself, that was never a realistic proposition: For the past several months he’s been immersed in the HBO series “The Idol” — which he is co-writing, co-directing and stars in — and his own stadium tour doesn’t start until July.Other names thrown into the week’s frenzied prediction mix include Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, Silk Sonic (featuring Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) and Tyler, the Creator. When the 2022 Coachella lineup was announced back in early January, Swedish House Mafia had rare, almost unprecedented placement in the hierarchy of the festival’s all-important official poster: in a headliner-sized font, but at the bottom of the lineup, and with no specific date listed.A few days later, Variety unspooled several hundred words speculating about what that might mean, one possibility of which was that the festival was hedging its bets in case headliner Kanye West — who’d pulled out of a previous Coachella lineup literally days before it was announced — pulled out again, which is exactly what happened on Monday. It is important to note that not just anyone can pull off a headlining set at North America’s biggest and most popular music festival.
