‘The View’ host Joy Behar blames ‘hubris’ for missing Titanic sub

pointed out both the “irony” and “hubris” of the missing submersible that disappeared en route to exploring the ruins of the once-mighty Titanic. “They say that the … submersible has been certified to withstand the pressure of 4,265 feet of depth, but the Titanic wreck wreckage is 12,500 feet of depth,” Behar, 80, said in Wednesday’s episode. “So that’s a tip-off right there.“It’s interesting because the Titanic itself went down because of human incompetence and stupidity on the part of — according to the movies — hubris,” continued the host.

It’s currently a race against the clock as rescuers strive to find a lost submersible full of tourists that went to the depths of the ocean to see the wreckage of the Titanic. And while the hosts of “The View” are hopeful that it’ll be found in time, Joy Behar lamented the “sad and scary” irony of the circumstances.A quick recap: on Sunday morning, a submersible from OceanGate Expeditions carrying five people lost contact just under two hours into their journey to the shipwreck. The submersible had a 96-hour oxygen supply and, as of this writing, had under 20 hours left.

‘Marguerite’s Theorem’ Review: A Bizarrely By-the-Numbers Fiction About the Gift/Curse of Math Genius

Jessica Kiang It is a paradox worthy of Zeno himself that significant dumbing-down is necessary in order to make tales of extraordinary genius comprehensible to us lay audiences. But in her own attempt at grandly unifying these opposing poles, French director Anna Novion (“Grown Ups,” “Rendezvous in Kiruna”) splits the difference so often she delivers in “Marguerite’s Theorem,” a movie riddled with cliché that plunges right past comprehensible into painfully, pedantically predictable — even to those of us who stumble when subtracting one two-digit number from another. Its heroine loves math because through it she can “put order on infinity,” but “Marguerite’s Theorem” is proof as incontrovertible as Andrew Wiles’ 1994 Fermat solution, that one can have too much order.

Chris Christie Reminds Fox News of Trump’s ‘Build the Wall’ Campaign Swing – and Miss: ‘Mexico Hasn’t Given Us One Peso’ (Video)

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is running as a Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential race and appeared Wednesday on Fox News, taking aim at the likely Democratic incumbent and current president, Joe Biden.Christie targeted Biden even after “America’s Newsroom” ran graphics and discussed the fact Donald Trump is not only handily polling ahead of Ron DeSantis but leading a pack of also-rans that include Christie, who was shown as polling at a meager 2% in the Republican race.“Record inflation, botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, sending the country into an educational tailspin because we’re excluding parents from their children’s education,” Christie reeled off, taking a page out of the DeSantis playbook before show host Bill Hemmer interrupted. “The border,” Hemmer said, blankly.A light bulb then went off for Christie.“But wait a second Bill,” the former CNN political analyst said, after Hemmer chimed in that Trump had more success with his Mexican border policies.

‘The View’ Devolves Into Chaos After Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin Spar Over Pence: ‘This Is Not What the Show’s About’ (Video)

“The View” hasn’t seen a truly heated fight at the table in quite some time, but that streak ended on Wednesday when the first segment of the show ended in a near-yelling match between hosts Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, which moderator Whoopi Goldberg cut off by sending the show to commercial.Leading up to the argument was a discussion about former Vice President Mike Pence and former New Jersey governor Chris Christie both officially declaring their candidacy for president in 2024. Once again, the women agreed that they don’t really see a lane for either man to have a real shot in the GOP pool, and wondered why they’re running at all.Knowing that Farah Griffin worked directly for Pence, both Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar looked to her for insight on what Pence’s strategy might actually be, and what she thinks of his candidacy.

Not about his well-being or anything, but about whether he’ll still run for president — and his designated clothing. To kick off Wednesday’s Hot Topics discussion, the women marveled at the idea of any presidential candidate considering a pardon for Trump for his actions leading to the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Host Sunny Hostin was particularly floored by those comparing a Trump pardon to Richard Nixon’s pardon.“Nixon resigned!” Hostin exclaimed.
