The Idol will end its first season this Sunday, July 2. The news has come as a surprise to some, with The Weeknd and Sam Levinson's HBO series first described as featuring six episodes when it was ordered to series in November 2021.

McCartney, one of the two living Beatles, said AI was used to extricate the late John Lennon's vocals from a previously recorded track.During an interview with, McCartney, 80, was asked about how AI has been used to replicate his young voice and even «bring voices back from the grave,» by mimicking the late John Lennon and George Harrison. «It's a very interesting thing,» McCartney said. «It's something we're all sort of tackling at the moment in terms of trying to deal with what's it mean.» He admitted he's not on the internet much but he has heard of AI-produced tracks that use the former band members' voices. «All of that is kind of scary, but it's the future» he said, adding it has great uses.

"When we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo John had that we worked on and we just finished it up," said McCartney, adding that the track will be released sometime this year.

BBC Radio 4’s Today program that AI technology was used to “extricate” the late John Lennon’s voice from a demo made before his songwriting partner’s murder, and used to complete the recording.“We just finished it up and it’ll be released this year,” Sir Paul told the program.McCartney did not provide the name of the song. BBC speculated it could be a piece written by Lennon in 1978 called “Now And Then,” recorded two years before he was gunned down in front of his New York City apartment building.The composition was previously considered a possible “reunion song” for the Beatles in 1995, when they were compiling the “Anthology” series, the BBC noted.
