The Rolling Stones reportedly working on new album with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr

The Rolling Stones are facing a copyright lawsuit over their 2020 track, ‘Living In A Ghost Town’.In the suit, a little-known songwriter called songwriter Sergio Garcia Fernandez, who performs under the name Angelslang, claims that the legendary band’s recent track “misappropriated many of the recognisable and key protected elements” from two of his songs, 2006’s ‘So Sorry’ and the following year’s ‘Seed Of God’.Fernandez claims that he gave a CD of music to an “immediate family member” of Mick Jagger, with elements of the two tracks then allegedly used in the band’s 2020 song.In a statement (via Billboard), Fernandez’s lawyers said: “The immediate family member … confirmed receipt … to the plaintiff via e-mail, and expressed that the musical works of the plaintiff and its style was a sound The Rolling Stones would be interested in using.”It goes on to allege that ‘Living In A Ghost Town’ lifted “vocal melodies, the chord progressions, the drum beat patterns, the harmonica parts, the electric bass line parts, the tempos, and other key signatures” from ‘So Sorry’, and the “harmonic and chord progression and melody” from ‘Seed Of God’.Representatives for The Rolling Stones did not respond to a request for comment from Billboard.Elsewhere, The Rolling Stones are reportedly collaborating with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on their new album.According to Variety, multiple sources have confirmed that two surviving The Beatles band members have contributed to an as-yet unannounced Stones album, which is said to be produced by Andrew Watt.

The Rolling Stones have been sued over allegations that their 2020 track ‘Living In A Ghost Town’ rips off not one but two earlier songs. The artist behind those earlier works alleges that the band got hold of his music via a member of Mick Jagger’s family.When released in April 2020, ‘Living In A Ghost Town’ was the first new music from the Stones in four years, and their first original song since 2012.

Chris Rock is ready to let loose on Will Smith during his live global Netflix standup special this Saturday after months of honing jokes about his infamous Oscar slap, according to reports.  The special this Saturday comes nearly a year after Smith walked onstage at the Academy Awards while Rock was presenting and smacked him across the face.  The "Spiral" star has mostly stayed mum on the attack except for jokes he has been trying out on stand-up audiences in his "Ego Death World Tour." In July, Rock joked he was slapped by "Suge Smith," comparing Smith to the former Death Row Records co-founder, Marion "Suge" Knight. Knight is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in 2018 following a fatal confrontation in Los Angeles in 2015.

William Earl Netflix is looking to enhance its first major foray into live content by adding pre- and post-show programs to complement Chris Rock’s March 4 standup special “Selective Outrage.” The live March 4 special is a big experiment for the service, which has also disclosed how the live stream function will work on the platform. The live pre-show, dubbed “The Show Before the Show,” will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET and originate from Los Angeles’ famed Comedy Store nightclub on Sunset Boulevard. Ronnie Wood has addressed rumours that Jeff Beck was invited to join the Rolling Stones, saying that he “wouldn’t have kept up with the timetable”.Wood was speaking to MOJO about the late musician, who died in January at the age of 78 after contracting bacterial meningitis.“He wouldn’t have kept up with the timetable! And apparently, that’s exactly what Benjamin Millepied was able to do with his feature debut, “Carmen.” As seen in the teaser trailer for “Carmen,” Millepied has landed Paul Mescal and Melissa Barrera as leads in his adaptation of the famous opera.

According to Variety, McCartney has recorded bass parts during recording sessions that took place in Los Angeles in recent weeks, and Starr is also slated to play drums.It’s currently unclear whether McCartney and Starr will end up on the same track or which songs will make the final tracklist. The album, produced by 2021 Grammy Producer of the Year Andrew Watt, is getting close to the mixing phase and has “a lot of tracks done,” Mick Jagger shared in 2021.Last month, guitarist Keith Richards shared with fans in an Instagram video that “There’s some new music on its way.”It’s thought that the album will feature recorded parts from the late founding drummer Charlie Watts, who died “peacefully” in Aug.
