at home was a matter that I always stressed over until I learned the “one-minute rule.”I consider myself a fairly organized person, and I like to treat my home as a kind of temple of rest.
So, order and cleanliness at home are one of my priorities, but not the only one, of course. My busy schedule meant I kept getting into the habit of postponing chores, due to laziness or the lack of time I had to put away or clean certain things.
After all, what is the priority in our hectic lives, sleeping or picking up the laundry? Scrub that cup, or take the dog for a walk?During the week, I found I spent more time watching tidiness and cleaning videos than actually doing it, since I could never find the time.
In the end, I kept allocating part of the weekend to tidying up and cleaning at home, trying to tie those things together.
There were so many loose ends that prevented my home from being as perfect as I would like.In recent months, we have witnessed many mothers discuss the impact of taking on too much of the “mental load” at home, and we know that this issue can become grounds for strife or even divorce.
I didn't want to put myself in such a situation, but I realized that my mental load was at its limit.
I also was not going to be part of the 5:00 am cleaning club (not even thinking about it).Precisely for this reason, I knew I needed to integrate a daily habit that would lead me to clean and pick up those little things without thinking about it.
The answer was the “one-minute rule,” which I heard from a friend.According to this simple rule, to maintain order and cleanliness at home, the criteria for carrying out a task immediately or not depends on whether it will take us less than 60 seconds to execute it.
