Having clear skin and a bright complexion is the goal many people strive for and make-up wearers dream of. People are obsessed with finding and creating the ultimate skincare regime that suits their skin.
It is so popular that ‘Skintok’, a TikTok trend where creators show off their skincare regime and discuss the best skin products you should be using, has over 9.5 billion views on the app.
One step in particular that everyone has been talking about lately is double cleansing.

The viral method has now amassed over 247.6 million views on the platform.
Cleansing sets the stage for the rest of your regime and it is particularly important to repeat this step at night time, to ensure your face is fully clean and prepped.
The method is simple. Cleansing is the first step when cleaning your face and the second cleanse comes immediately after.
This is done so the first cleanse removes whatever is initially on the skin such as make-up, SPF, oil and dirt, and the second cleanse is to just focus on getting the skin clean and prepped.
However, you do not use the same cleansers.
According to TikTok skincare and beauty expert @thatsotee, the first cleanser you use is an oil based one followed by a water based cleanser.
This is done as the oil based cleanser “is going to help remove all the make-up and help with any impurities that are in your pores that your make-up may have caused.”
She then advises that you foam up your water based cleanser and gently cleanse your face for 30-45 seconds for each
