EXCLUSIVE: Dreamscape Productions’ creature feature comedy Round the Decay has finalized its cast – with The NeverEnding Story actress Melody Kay returning to film and Breaking Bad actor Phil Duran tapped for a key role.
The film, which is Dreamscape’s second feature, will follow Kenzie (Victoria Mirrer) as she gets entangled in a sinister plot in the sleepy town of Newport Valley to get closure on her broken engagement. Damian Maffei (Haunt, The Strangers: Prey at Night), Sarah Nicklin (The Black Mass, Garden of Eden), and Rodger Clarke (Red Dead Redemption II) also star.
Plot reads: When prominent locals (Nicklin, Ward) take in a lost hiker (Alexis Saroyan), Kenzie, newcomer Roz (Sienna Hubert-Ross) and mysterious outsider Munroe (Maffei) find themselves caught between the leaders of the town’s factions (Jamie Dufault, Kay, Duran) and entangled in an ancient sinister plot dating back to its founder (Clarke) that threatens the survival of the town and their lives.
Filming for the project has begun in New Hampshire, with Adam Newman directing his own script.
This will be Kay’s first film since 1994, after NeverEnding Story: Escape from Fantasia. Round the Decay is produced by Newman, Hansson, Jay Voishnis, Jon Balanoff, and Adam McDonald; and executive produced by Sean Ward, CEO of Dreamscape.
Everwinter Night, Dreamscape’s first film, stars Mirrer, Dufault, Nicklin and Ward alongside Chris Goodwin and McKenna Parsons. It released on streaming earlier this year.
Newman, Topher Hansson, Sean Ward and Alexandra Boylan formed Dreamscape last year.
