A Netflix series with an almost-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score has returned to the streaming service's top 10 most-watched list two years after it was released. Mini-series Maid secured climbed to the eighth spot on the English language series list last week, thanks to clips of the show trending on TikTok.
The Emmy-nominated drama, inspired by Stephanie Land's 2019 book Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive, garnered 14 million hours viewed on Netflix between May 22 and May 28. Maid, which premiered in October 2021, follows American single mother Alex, who becomes a housecleaner to make ends meet.

Margaret Qualley stars as Alex, while her real-life mum Andie MacDowell plays Paula Langley, her eccentric and unreliable on-screen mother.

Melissa and Joey star Nick Robinson is Sean Boyd, Alex's former partner and the father of their child Maddy, who is portrayed by Rylea Nevaeh Whittet. Ginny and Georgia's Raymond Ablack, Twilight's Billy Burke and Little Fires Everywhere star Anika Noni Rose are also part of the cast.
The oftentimes harrowing series explores poverty, addiction, domestic abuse and complicated family dynamics, yet threads of hope and dark humour run throughout its 10 episodes. One Rotten Tomatoes critic wrote in 2021: "This drama is powerful, heart breaking, inspiring, and absolutely one of the best shows on Netflix I've seen all year" while another added: "We need more stories like this and, hands down, "Maid" deserves all
