SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details for the Season 3 finale of The Morning Show.
UBA may never be the same after Season 3 of The Morning Show.
Wednesday’s finale brought the hammer down on Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), a tech mogul who had been trying to take over the media company. Despite all of Cory’s (Billy Crudup) attempts to intercept any naysayers, it was Alex who figured out a way to put a stop to the sale of UBA to Hyperion.
You might be thinking, Alex? But hasn’t she been Team Paul for a majority of the season? Didn’t she just take offense when Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) told her she thought Paul was shady? Well, yes. But all that changes when Alex pays a visit to Bradley, who is spiraling after resigning from UBA on air and having a run-in with Paul where he alludes to the fact that he knows all about how Bradley destroyed evidence to keep her brother out of prison after he assaulted a Capitol police officer during the Jan. 6 riots.
That leads Bradley to assume that Paul has been surveilling her, which is somehow the only revelation that finally forces Alex to see the light. She now realizes she needs to take Paul down.
When she arrives at the board vote, Paul thinks she’s there to celebrate the deal. But really, she’s there to present a counteroffer. Instead of selling to Paul, UBA should merge with another media company, NBN. That would help them reduce costs and use the best from both networks to regroup. Paul is very angry, but the board is enticed by the new offer. Although, when news of the merger reaches the UBA staff, they are rightfully worried about who will be cut from their ranks in the process.
Elsewhere, Bradley and Cory have a moment toward the end of the episode. As a result of The Vault
