Thousands of social homes around Manchester will be revamped after a £47m fund was approved.
Over 2,000 properties will see bathrooms, kitchens, and boilers upgraded.
The work on social homes is part of a bigger scheme - with Manchester City Council planning to develop and transform 12,500 homes around the city in a five-year project.

The work done is to ensure the council is meeting good standards for social housing tenants - and £2m of the fund will be used on adaptations in homes for elderly or disabled residents.
Total investment in the city's social homes is expected to exceed £100m after the council announced a separate £60m energy efficiency program earlier this year, with over 2,100 properties earmarked for upgrades.
Retired mechanic Oliver Slade, who lives in social housing in Manchester, welcomes the investment. The 78-year-old said: “I think this is massive, the home isn’t up to scratch at all. I have had problems with boilers leaking and heating turning on and off randomly so I’m happy about this.
"It's nice hearing people haven’t forgotten about those in social homes. This will be big and we are appreciative.”
Shirley Daley, 63, has been living in social housing for the past decade. “I think what the council is doing is great and it’s about time. I used to be embarrassed by the condition of my home sometimes, so this is good news.
“It will help make the buildings look newer and more attractive. It will help Manchester look more attractive as a city so yeah! Very happy to hear this.”
