A south Manchester suburb could see its 1960s shopping centre completely demolished.
Ambitious new plans have recently been revealed to bulldoze the Chorlton shopping precinct with the centre of the neighbourhood earmarked for major works.
It is hoped the precinct will be replaced by a new 'thriving retail hub', featuring over 200 homes and modern retail spaces - with the public now urged to have their say.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Graeme House, an office block beside the Chorlton Cross centre, and the existing shopping precinct would be knocked down in order to enable a better layout of the site.

The major development proposals, dubbed One Chorlton, were unveiled last week by PJ Livesey Holdings LTD, with a public consultation to decide the future of the site now open until August 21.
The 3.2 acre site, bounded by Barlow Moor Road, Wilbraham Road and Nicolas Road, comprises of the shopping precinct, Graeme House and also an adjoining 200 space surface car park.
They said the brief is to 'create a thriving and sustainable neighbourhood' that 'captures the spirit of Chorlton', compromising of retail spaces, homes and also open public spaces.
Questionnaires have been sent to local neighbours and a website has been launched, giving people the opportunity to comment and help shape detailed designs later in the year. The M.E.N has learned over 300 responses have been received so far.
It comes as the final stage of the Manchester to Chorlton Walking and Cycleway is due for completion next month following several years of consultation.
