David Gilmour has announced his plans to tour for the first time in eight years.The former Pink Floyd guitarist made the comments in a new interview with Uncut (via Far Out and Neptune Pink Floyd), where he discussed potentially touring his upcoming album ‘Luck and Strange‘. It is set for release on September 6.Speaking to the outlet, Gilmour said there was “an unwillingness to revisit the Pink Floyd of the ‘70s”, but would be more likely to perform songs from other decades: “Yeah, they might be better represented. I mean, at least one from the ’60s.

Pete Doherty has announced plans to curate a trio of UK shows next month.The Libertines man will host three nights in Manchester and London to mark the fifth anniversary of his record label Strap Originals.Over the three nights at The White Hotel (May 28) and the 100 Club in the capital (29,30) Doherty will take part in a Q&A about his life, his music and his vision for the label.A host of the label’s artists including Trampolene, Andrew Cushin, Vona Vella, Evan Williams will also perform over the three day period. Beyoncé has become the first Black woman to score a Number One country album with ‘Cowboy Carter’ in the US charts.The music icon’s new country-inspired album has topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums, making history in the process as the first Black woman ever to do so, as revealed yesterday (April 7).The new record also debuted at Number One, her eighth album to top the Billboard 200 charts.Billboard revealed that, at 407,000 units, ‘Cowboy Carter’ claimed the biggest week of 2024 so far and the largest since Taylor Swift’s ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ reached 1.653 million units on the November 11, 2023 list back in October.‘Cowboy Carter’ also scored other achievements including Beyoncé’s biggest week by units since ‘Lemonade’ debuted at Number One with 653,000 units in 2016.The achievement follows a similar feat back in February when Beyoncé became the first Black woman to reach Number One on the US country chart with her new single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’.She also became the second solo female act – with no accompanying featured artists – to debut at Number One, with Swift achieving this in 2021 with her re-recorded versions of ‘Love Story’ and ‘All Too Well’.Additionally, Beyoncé was announced as the first woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hip Songs charts since these run-downs began in 1958.

The Libertines have revealed that they still have the ambition to break America, despite frontman Pete Doherty being “banned” from the country for two decades.The British indie icons reflected on the success of their career over the past 20 years during a new interview with The Sun (via Music News), and revealed that there is still a part of them that wishes they could take their music across the pond.The discussion came in light of their recently released album, ‘All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade’, which was their first full-length LP in nearly a decade and the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Anthems for Doomed Youth’.Opening up about their hopes to take the album into the States, Carl Barat opened up about the struggles they have faced with the prospect over their career. “Trouble is, Pete’s been banned there for the past 20 years,” he said, explaining how Doherty’s well-documented struggles with addiction have led to various legal issues, and prevented the band from heading Stateside.He continued, going on to share how, although the frontman’s sobriety may help them overcome their previous obstacles, they still have no idea what size their audience would be outside of the UK and Europe.“We don’t know what we’re worth ticket-wise — it could be Madison Square Garden or a local bar,” he pondered.
