Tributes, memories and generous donations continue to roll in for The Star and Garter landlord Andy Martin, following his sudden death last Friday. The 52-year-old touched the hearts of the hundreds of people who laughed with him and danced in his legendary Manchester pub.
He was respected for keeping the Fairfield Street boozer running for more than 20 years and cherished for creating memories that will live long for thousands of Mancunians. The team at the famous Salford Lads Club are among the hundreds who have paid their respects to one of Manchester's best loved characters.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, the club said: "We’re sad to hear this news - Andy was a key figure in Manchester’s music community. Our thoughts are with his family."

More than £8,600 has now been raised to support Andy's family with funeral costs, with the target on their JustGiving page having been smashed over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Among the more than 260 people who have donated, dozens have left warm tributes and shared memories of a man who 'brought so much pleasure to our lives' during his helm at The Star and Garter.
One person wrote: "For the friendship, the lock ins, the gossip, the misquotes, the wristbands, the music, the chips after United, the million times you let me skip the queue and in for free. I'll miss you Andy. RIP x"
Another said: "Saw Andy late Jan [at] S&G, shared the usual chuckles. Asked to borrow one of my s*** one liners for later. What a warm, lovable Indie Legend. Always so engaging and affable. Forever Missed. RIP mate."
