Following the success of Stockport’s Giant Leap Frog Art Trail in 2019 and Stockport’s Gigantic Leap Frog Art Trail in 2021, the Stockport Frogs are leaping back for 2023.
Created by the team at Totally Stockport in the town centre’s Business Improvement District, the brand-new trail of ‘frogtastic inventions’ will be hopping onto the giant cogs across the town centre from Friday, July 21 until Saturday, September 30, 2023.
19 frogs, sponsored by local businesses and organisations, are set to create a vibrant and fun outdoor art trail for everyone to enjoy, and visitors may well learn something new along the way.
Each artwork represents an invention and has been designed and painted by local artists.
From the beginning of the Stone Age, around 2.6 million years ago, man has strived to invent tools and technologies to make life easier and more efficient. Stockport’s Great Frogtastic Inventions Trail takes you on a journey through history, celebrating many of the greatest inventions – from the wheel to the Slinky and the printing press to the iPod.
There’s a chance to win your very own unique frog too. All you need to do is track down a frog named Minty and correctly guess how many coins have been painted on this fine fellow.
Entrants under the age of 18 must have parental consent before entering and must be a UK resident. Full terms and conditions of the competition can be found on Totally Stockport’s website here, along with its privacy policy.
Along the way, you'll also find some of Minty's friends such as Zippy - who could ever imagine that a fastener with teeth, invented in 1891, would be found in every home over 200 years later!
