As the colder weather begins to hit Scotland and the rest of the UK, the potential for condensation to form inside people's homes grows ever greater.
Condensation occurs when cold air mixes with the hot air inside a home, letting moisture form on windowsills, which can then turn into mould, reports the Express.
You can prevent this by keeping windows open to allow the room to ventilate but this can be difficult in the winter, given how cold it can be.
Preventing mould from forming initially can be important, and according to one expert, this can be done relatively easily by just getting used to performing one daily task.
To minimise condensation and mould from forming in the home, experts from MeandMyGlass.co.uk suggested that you should stick the heating on for 20 minutes every morning.
They said: "Putting the heating on for around 20 minutes in the morning can help control the humidity in the room. Open the windows first to get a healthy airflow going before putting the heating on to stop the windows from steaming up."
Also, wiping down windows in the morning can also get rid of any condensation from forming, and can be important in banishing mould from the home.
John Cuts, a glass expert at the company, said: "It’s common for people to find their windows have steamed up overnight which often results in a damp windowsill.
"While condensation may not seem like an issue, it can become a serious problem once mould growth starts to happen which can easily spread across the room.
"We recommend taking time in the morning to wipe condensation off windows, opening them up to allow for more ventilation and sealing any window cracks which could be making the issue worse."
Before the moisture soaks into your walls, you should try and wipe
