The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess to be honoured at first ever Northern Music Awards

Tim Burgess is to receive special recognition at the first ever Northern Music Awards in Manchester next month.
The lead singer of The Charlatans will be handed the Northern Music Award 2024 during the awards ceremony at Albert Hall on April 23. The event, from music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins, will also see Lisa Stansfield and Spice Girls star Melanie C receive the Northern Icon Award and Special Recognition Award.
The ceremony will feature performances by Lisa, alongside Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, indie hip hop artist Antony Szmierek, Leeds quartet English Teacher and Warrington-based band The K’s. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

Speaking about the recognition, Tim said: “It’s incredible to be recognised with the inaugural Northern Music Award. Music is important on so many levels, and I’m a firm believer in the unique way that it can connect people.
“It means a lot to me to be able to support the great work of Nordoff and Robbins, who use music therapy to unlock life for some of the most vulnerable people in society – and through the funds raised by everyone coming along to the Northern Music Awards we’ll be opening up music therapy to even more people across the North.”
The event has been created to celebrate the best when it comes to the Northern music scene including artists, venues, and events. Aitch’s manager Michael Adex, who is behind the NQ talent agency, will receive the first ever Industry Icon Award during the night, whilst The Reytons will pick up the Disruptor Award.
