As the latest series of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway came to an end on Saturday evening, viewers were more than a little distracted by presenter Stephen Mulhern ’s appearance during one segment of the show. Geordie show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly swapped their usual UK studio for the balmy warmth of Florida, as they broadcast live from Universal Studios, Orlando - and had even brought along co-stars Stephen, Fleur East and Jordan North for the final show.

Viewers were stunned as they clocked former children's TV presenter Andi Peters during the Saturday Night Takeaway finale live from the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. As the camera cut to the Good Morning Britain and This Morning favourite at Universal's Volcano Bay water theme park, fans were distracted by his 'erupting biceps'.'

Naman Ramachandran Indian filmmaker Subhrajit Mitra’s latest venture “Bandit Queen of Bengal” (aka “Devi Chowdhurani”) will start principal photography in the final quarter of the year. The film is based on Mitra’s own research into the the advent and invasion of the British East India Company in India, the battles of Plassey (1757) and Buxar (1764), the great Bengal famine of 1770, the Sannyasi and Fakir rebellion (1770-77) and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s 1884 Bengali-language novel “Devi Chowdhurani,” which features a female freedom fighter protagonist. The film will follow the journey of a villager who eventually becomes the first Indian woman freedom fighter. It will also tell the story of the Hindu monks who had no other option but to take up arms against their British colonial rulers to save the country and their people. It was the first armed revolution by the Indians, led by Bhavani Charan Pathak, against the British East India Company. The film will hew close to the novel’s plotline but some 80% of it will be closer to actual history.

Beta Cinema has closed its first presales on period drama The Offing starring Helena Bonham Carter. Curzon, Cineart and Madman have joined forces to acquire all rights for UK/Ireland, Benelux and Australia/New Zealand in what is described as a competitive situation. The distributors will work on an aligned campaign across the markets. Beta first launched The Offing at the EFM in February. Filming is lined up for later this year.

Jesy Nelson has announced she is releasing a new single later this month.The former Little Mix singer, 31, revealed the track, titled Bad Thing, will be released on April 14 in an Instagram post on Monday evening. Alongside the news, she shared a black-and-white cover photo which sees her peering out from behind a wall dressed in a 70s-style outfit with a short-sleeved top, skirt, white socks, platform heels and headband.

King Charles has offered “heartfelt thanks” to people involved in the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) after the initiative announced it has planted more than three million trees.The scheme was launched in May 2021 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and was extended after her death in September last year to allow people to plant trees in memoriam. Charles said: “It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the commencement of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

The Night Agent and popular K-drama The Glory are Netflix’s most-watched programmes this week.According to Netflix’s latest weekly lists of Top 10 most-watched TV shows and movies, The Night Agent amassed over 168million hours viewed on the streaming platform for the week of March 20 to 26. Series topped the most-watched English-language TV series for the week, ending a two week-reign for Season 4 of You.The Night Agent was released on March 23 and is based on the 2019 Matthew Quirk novel of the same name.

Naman Ramachandran Writer-director Jesper Ganslandt has signed with CAA for representation. Ganslandt made his debut with “Falkenberg Farewell” in 2006. The coming-of-age film followed a group of friends who grew up in the titular town of Falkenberg and spend a last summer there before moving to the big city. The film debuted at Venice and had a stellar festival run including Toronto, Reykjavik, Tallinn Black Nights and Goteborg. It was nominated for the Nordic Council’s Film Prize, chosen as Sweden’s submission for the Academy Awards, and was nominated in several categories at the Guldbagge Awards in 2007, including best film, best direction and best screenplay. It won the FIPRESCI Award at the IndieLisboa International Independent Film Festival.

Empire State Bastard – the side project of Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil – have played their first-ever live gig. The deal was closed by Toronto-based sales agent Syndicado Film Sales, which is also an executive producer on the film. The film had its world premiere at Copenhagen documentary festival CPH:DOX on Monday, the anniversary of the invasion. In the film, Czech-Swedish filmmaker Greta Stocklassa interviews the Swedish diplomatic, now 94 years old, about what happened in the months leading up to war. He describes his meetings with George W. Bush and Tony Blair, his frustration when Colin Powell gave his pivotal speech in the UN Security Council, and his feeling of emptiness when the U.S. started the invasion, despite his reports that his team had found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack and Danny Dyer are among the famous faces starring in an adaptation of a raunchy novel from Jilly Cooper for Disney+, it has been announced. Rivals, published in 1988 and one of 10 novels from Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles series, will be adapted into an eight-part series of the same name, featuring notorious lothario Rupert Campbell-Black played by British actor Alex Hassell.The 85-year-old author is best known for her often erotic romance novels which capture the drama and excess of Britain’s affluent elite.Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Emily confirmed the news and also shared several snaps of her new hairdo, revealing the TV project was the reason behind it.

Naman Ramachandran Construction has begun on Birmingham’s Digbeth Loc. Studios, the brainchild of British screenwriter, director and producer, Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). Knight’s vision, alongside business partner, TIME+SPACE CEO Piers Read, is to create a long-term cultural legacy for his home city by welcoming blue-chip brands to the studio. Work on the site is expected to complete by mid-July with the first filming due to take place in October. First shows to be filmed at the new facility include BBC drama “This Town” from Banijay U.K.’s Kudos and food format, “MasterChef,” produced by Banijay U.K.’s Shine TV. An area of the new studios is also expected to be occupied by legendary Birmingham reggae band UB40.

Ordered by Swedish broadcaster TV4, “Cry Wolf” is based on “Vargasommar,” the anticipated debut novel of Hans Rosenfeldt, the BAFTA-nominated creator of “Bron” (“The Bridge”) and British series “Marcella.” Fifth Season has boarded international sales. “Cry Wolf” will also star Eva Melander (“UFO Sweden”) and Henrik Dorsin (“Triangle of Sadness”). It will start filming in in Haparanda, near the border of Finland, in July. Melander is set play Hannah Wester, a 54-year-old police officer whose quiet life in Haparanda gets turned upside down after a wolf is found dead. The ordinary investigation becomes a sprawling criminal case connected to a bloody drug deal in Finland and sparks a series of brutal events.
