Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises have traditionally cast dental hygienists and personal trainers in their mid-20s, there’s no rule that says the 60-plus crowd isn’t every bit as romantic, if not more. Since they have, you know, life experiences and fully developed personalities. In The Golden Bachelor, the latest addition to ABC’s primetime lineup, a silver fox (we assume) will choose a woman for the next (uh, final?) part of his life.
Per a press release, “On this all-new unscripted series, one hopeless romantic is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life. The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss, and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities.
In the end, will our Golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”Second chance…is there a guy who was on 20 years ago and it didn’t work out and now he’s coming back, or are we reading too much into this? OR, WAIT, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss …and is currently unmarried…. If he set up this whole thing just to find a new wife, bravo. Can only imagine what kinds of DMs the contestants will get when the show ends, the discourse it will spark…honestly, can’t wait.No word yet on when the whole thing kicks off, but it will air on Mondays at 10 p.m.
ET, and we will be watching with a glass of wine in one hand and our phone in the other. What, like you’re not gonna text your mom during every commercial break? To me it will be this, I hope:There’s no expiration date on romance!By Savannah WalshBy Jessica RadloffBy Whitney Perry By Elizabeth Logan and Jessica RadloffMore from GlamourSee More Stories© 2023

Loco Films is handling international sales on the title. The film is a major breakthrough for Arnow, who not only makes her narrative feature directing debut, but also wrote, edited and stars in the picture. Critics liked her vision, with Variety‘s Catherine Bray praising “The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed” as “brilliantly sardonic” and adding that “you would hope that this is the kind of film that would lead to fame and fortune for Arnow.” The film follows the life of a thirtysomething woman named Ann, as she engages in a casual BDSM relationship, grapples with her low-level corporate job, and deals with her bickering family.

Alison Herman TV Critic Patricia Arquette likes to go big. In 2018’s “Escape at Dannemora,” she donned copious prosthetics to play a prison employee who assists in an escape. In “The Act” the following year, she played an eerily doting mother with Munchausen by proxy. And in “Severance,” she’s an unhinged boss who lives a double life, surveilling her employees on and off the clock. The actor earned an Oscar in 2015 for a grounded turn in “Boyhood”; on TV, she lets her hair down. With “High Desert,” Arquette amps up the volume even further. Unlike those earlier outings on the small screen, the Apple TV+ comedy puts her at the top of the call sheet as Peggy Newman, a drug dealer turned methadone user, frontier-era reenactor and aspiring PI. But Arquette brings a supporting player’s lack of inhibition to the leading role. Others might feel the need to rein themselves in and play the straight woman to anchor a cast of eccentrics. Arquette makes Peggy a chaos tornado in feathered bangs, growling and rasping her way through a series of harebrained schemes. An early scene introduces Peggy hanging from a chandelier with her bloomers out, careening into a bar as part of a dinner theater display. The actor then sustains that momentum for eight consecutive episodes.
