The 1975 star Matty Healy used a day off rocking out arenas with his band to support his actress mum Denise Welch who is also performing on stage here in Manchester this weekend. Denise is starring in the world premiere production of The Gap at the acclaimed Hope Mill Theatre in Ancoats.
Matty will be playing in front of adoring crowds of thousands at the AO Arena across two sold out shows on Saturday and Sunday night. But on Thursday he headed to the rather more intimate setting of Hope Mill to cheer on his mum and her co-star Matthew Kelly in the new Jim Cartwright play.
Matty was joined by his American girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel, who is the lead singer of punk band Nasty Cherry. And making it a true family affair, Matty was joined by his brother Louis too at the theatre.

Denise shared pictures of her sons on her official Instagram page sharing the message: "Loved to have the family in to see mum at work!!!". Loose Women star Denise, 65, had earlier this week told the MEN of the fortuitous timing of Matty's UK shows which meant he'd be able to see her in action.
She said: "My Matthew, whose career is so international now, can very often not see me do things because he's not in the country. But he can actually see me in this."
She also said that she hopes to be able to return the favour and catch Matty in action with The 1975 while they're touring a string of dates in the UK.
The band have come a long way since they were rehearsing in Denise's garage in Wilmlsow as schoolboys. And Denise is so proud of how far they've gone since then.
