A 16-year-old girl has tragically died after a horror crash involving two vehicles on a Scots road.
Emergency services rushed to the smash on the M73 northbound, near the Gartcosh junction, around 1.30pm on Saturday, January 28.
The driver of one vehicle, a 62-year-old man and the rear passenger, a 16-year-old girl, were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by ambulance.
Sadly, the 16-year-old girl could not be saved and later died.
The 42-year-old man driver of the other vehicle was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence. He was not injured in the collision and was later released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for around seven hours while crash investigations were carried out and reopened around 8.40pm.
Police are now urging any witnesses, or anyone who has dash cam footage of the area at the time, to get in touch with officers on 101, quoting reference 1665 of 28 January, 2023.
