Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is trying to move forward in her life after Aaron Sandford (James Craven) left Coronation Street but in Monday’s (June 19) episode, she established just how much her recent ordeal has impacted her mentally. Aaron departed the cobbles after confronting his actions and realising that he did in fact rape Amy, after previously stating that she wanted to have sex just as much as he did and ignoring the fact that she was unconscious and couldn’t consent. While this isn’t the closure Amy wanted, it’s the only one she’s going to get for now and tonight, she tried her best to find a positive focus, choosing to try and get back into the swing of university studying.
Sadly, Amy was told by her tutor that because she had missed so much, she would have to retake the entire year. This left Amy wondering whether she should even continue her studies, but a chat with Summer (Harriet Bibby) changed her mind. Because Summer is also retaking her year, she reminded Amy that they’d be doing it together, and the support from her mate was enough to make Amy realise it was a good idea to continue uni after all.
To celebrate, Summer and Amy headed to the bistro for some drinks. With the late licence in full-swing at the restaurant, Amy and Summer enjoyed shots and dancing, but the evening soon took a concerning turn. Sitting in a booth was a husband and wife and their mate.
The husband was also drinking and tried to get his partner to get up and dance, but she didn’t really want to. As the wife tried to refuse because she was feeling tipsy, Amy overheard and thought that she was in danger. Amy said to the wife that she doesn’t have to do anything the husband wants, but her comments were clearly directed towards her
