Former Love Island star Zara McDermott has shared some behind-the-scenes details from Strictly Come Dancing - admitting the WhatsApp group chat is "popping". Speaking to OK! and other press, Zara, 26, revealed the celebrity contestants have been growing close ahead of the show's launch date. "It's popping every day," she said.
But not everyone can keep up with the barrage of messages. Bobby Brazier quipped: "I’m going to have to mute it soon," before adding: "Luckily, I like everybody. Everyone’s great." Layton Williams agrees, telling us: "The WhatsApp group is popping.
We’re a really supportive bunch. We’re genuinely still getting to know each other. Lots of characters and lots of different energies.
But the best, most supportive group." And he added: "We’ve definitely got each other’s backs. When it gets to the days when we feel a bit stressed, we’re like guys, we’ve got this. We’re all in the same boat.
It’s not every day you’re in a position like this where everybody else is going through the exact same thing." Zara made history as the first Love Island contestant to sign up to Strictly. However, while she admits she's "really proud", she says the ITV2 dating show doesn't define her. "I did Love Island five years ago and I was only in for ten, eleven days I think.
So for me, as much as I’m not ashamed of that at all, it also doesn’t define me now in my life," she said. "I’ve been making documentaries now for three and a bit years. I’m really proud of myself." She continued: "I’ve grown up and changed drastically since I was 21 years old and completely lacked confidence.
