Strictly's Zara McDermott 'I'm not good at dancing - I scraped a GCSE pass'

Ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing launch show on Saturday Zara McDermott that although she does have some dance experience, it's not something she's particularly talented at. The former Love Island star, 26, has revealed that she does have a GCSE in dance, which may give her a slight advantage over some of her competitors, however, she says she just about "scraped a pass." Zara, who appeared on series four of Love Island, will be the show's first star to take to the Strictly dancefloor.
Following her time in the villa, Zara appeared on X Factor: Celebrities, and starred in Made In Chelsea alongside her boyfriend, Sam Thompson. She has also launched a career as a television presenter and documentary maker.
Ahead of her time on Strictly, Zara has opened up to press about her decision to take part, and her past dancing experience. What made you want to take part in the show this year? "I think the idea of pushing myself out of my comfort zone is something that I've tried to do the whole of my 20s.
Dancing is something that I know I'm not very good at and I'm not very strong and confident at. "I've never been the girl to even dance in a nightclub in front of my friends, or dance at a bar because I'm just really nervous about how I look and I feel like this is going to be literally throwing myself into the deep end and doing something that I'm completely not confident with, and just giving it a go.
"A really big thing for me actually is from my documentaries, I meet so many women who are literally so nervous to be on camera, to be interviewed and I'm presented every single day with really brave people who are pushing themselves out of their comfort zone, being interviewed by me and doing something that's so crazy to them.
