Bros star and future Strictly Come Dancing contestant Matt Goss has opened up about his emotions and feelings of “loneliness” as he hopes the iconic dancing show will help him to live a little more. The 53 year old star first shot to fame back in the 1980s alongside his twin brother Luke Goss, when the dynamic duo dominated the charts together in boyband Bros.
Yet despite the fame that followed, including, a recent 11 year sell-out residency on the Las Vegas strip, Matt has explained that things weren’t always easy, particularly between himself and his brother. In a recent interview with the Mail Online, Matt told the publication: “As a twin, when you're younger, you pine for your own identity.
“I can give you an absurd example — I broke my wrist when I was a kid. When I went to school I was asked: "Did Luke break his wrist as well?” “I think there is definitely sediment [in our relationship] from the past.
Sometimes the sediment is at the bottom of the bottle and the water is beautifully clear, then there's a little shake and that sediment muddies the water again.” While there is no denying that the brothers are hugely supportive of each other and achieved critical acclaim for their work, it also caused some friction for the pair, as Matt was often in the limelight as the frontman, while his brother skilfully worked as a drummer. “The drummer is the backbone of a band but as a frontman you've got to grab the crowd by the throat.” In a heartbreaking admission, Matt then went on to admit that he felt he “had to apologise for being the frontman” during their decade spanning career.
