Beloved Strictly judge Len Goodman predicted his own passing just six months before his death. On Monday 24 April, it was announced in an emotional statement that the 78 year old television personality had passed away peacefully following a short battle with bone cancer. And in a newly-unearthed interview from 2022, Len, who was a few days shy of his 79th birthday, revealed that he expected to die at 79 because that was the age at which his father had suddenly passed away.
"My dad had the right idea, he loved gardening, and he had a stroke while he was out in the garden. He was 79, so if I go the way of my dad, that'll be next year," Len had told MailOnline. He continued: "I don't make a fuss about stuff like that.
It's like when you have a car — you keep it serviced, but even so, you'll have some trouble with your carburettor, and you'll need to get it fixed, and eventually the whole thing will conk out, and there you go." "It's more about the journey, and mine has been lovely," he inspiringly added. Len died "peacefully" on Saturday surrounded by his family, his agent announced in a statement on Monday, which read: "It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much-loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him." The Strictly star, who announced his retirement from television six months ago, died in a hospice in Tunbridge Wells after battling bone cancer.
