Fleur East has joined the star-studded line-up for Strictly Come Dancing, which returns next month.The singer, 34, who was recently seen recovering quickly after tumbling out of a cab at a Pride event, is the 12th contestant to be confirmed to competition with the aim of bagging the coveted Glitterball trophy. She's joining the likes of Loose Women star Kaye Adams, Britain's Got Talent's Molly Rainford and Coronation Street star Kym Marsh. Sharing her excitement over the news, Fleur said: "I’m equally nervous and thrilled to be part of this year’s Strictly line up." She went on to share her enthusiasm on learning new skills and vowed to "soak up every moment".
"It’s such an honour to be on the show after years of watching it with my Father who loved it so much," she continued. Fleur, who lost her father Malcolm in March 2020, added: "Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in spirit. "I’m doing this to make him and my family proud and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!" The news of her in the line-up was also announced on the official Strictly Come Dancing Instagram account, where many of her fans shared their joy.
Convinced she will win, one person said: "That's the Winner right there," followed by a red heart emoji. Another chimed: "I call it now… she will win it!!" while a third added: "She is going to be brilliant however be interesting to see her doing ballroom [red heart emoji] can’t wait x".
