Stewartry plans weekend of celebrations for coronation of King Charles III

The Stewartry’s plans to mark the coronation of King Charles III are beginning to take shape.
Celebrations are planned across the region to mark the occasion on May 6.
Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities have organised a picnic on Moat Brae from 11am to 4pm.
There will be entertainment from Pete Kirk and the Ukefrolics and everyone is welcome to bring along their tables, chairs, blankets and food.
The coronation will be screened in the church. And it will also be televised in Dalry Town Hall from 11am, with tea and cake.
Crocketford Community Initiative have organised a free fun afternoon for kids in the village hall from 3pm to 5pm.
Youngsters are encouraged to paint a stone and enjoy snacks and fun.
Sunday, May 7 will see a royal picnic in the park at Market Hill in Castle Douglas.
It’s been organised by the Forward Rotary Group with entertainment from Daffy Dill, music from Rue of Rue and the Rockets and also story-telling, face painting, a bar and much more.
It will take place from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
And Dalbeattie will be holding its own coronation that day - of the civic queen for the upcoming Civic Daze.
Coronation Sundaze in Colliston Park will also feature Dumfries Town Band, Reid’s Amusements, dancers, demonstrations and the duck race.
It will run from 1pm to 5pm.
Sunday will also see a picnic in the park in New Galloway from 1pm to 4pm with cake, music, a pet show and much more.
