Labour and the Liberal Democrats have slammed Stephen Flynn for having a go at the "Westminster establishment" over the Horizon scandal.
The SNP Westminster leader said during PMQs yesterday that postmasters wrongly convicted as part of the Horizon scandal "never stood a chance against the Westminster establishment".
He also said that the public "are angry at Westminster because they know that this place never really changes".
It came after Tory Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the UK Government planned to exonerate all postmasters in England and Wales convicted as part of the scandal.
Labour Shadow Scotland Secretary Ian Murray said Flynn's comments were "frankly ridiculous".
He added that "there are now huge questions for the SNP in Scotland" as postmaster were prosecuted while the Nationalists were in power.
Lib Dem MP and former Scotland Secretary Alistair Carmichael said "blaming this scandal on the SNP bogeyman of Westminster falls flat when Scottish law officers also prosecuted and sentenced postmasters".
Murray said: “What has happened to the postmasters is an utterly appalling miscarriage of justice and it is right that they should be exonerated.
“It is disgraceful that it has taken this long for any justice to be delivered, and there are now huge questions for the SNP in Scotland - postmasters were prosecuted by the Crown Office while the SNP have been in government for 16 years. The SNP will have to sort it in Scotland.
“It is also frankly ridiculous for Stephen Flynn be talking about cover ups, he should ask the families of those who died at the QUEH what it means to have a government obstruct the truth.
“The SNP are up to their necks in secrecy and obscuring failure from the public.”
Carmichael said:
