Stacey Solomon's trip to Jamaica ended in disaster with the mum-of-five being rushed to hospital after suddenly falling ill and needing medical care. The 34 year old returned to social media on Sunday, 7 January after being uncharacteristically quiet online, and explained how her recent family trip hadn't ended as she'd hoped and she'd been recovering at her home in Essex. Addressing her followers in a series of Instagram Stories, Stacey apologised for not sharing any posts lately.
She began: "I'm so sorry but we had like, the worst exit to Jamaica of all time. I can't even get over what's happened." She went on to explain that during her last night in Jamaica, she'd began to feel poorly, but presumed she simply had caught the flu. "On the night before we were travelling home, I started to feel a little bit, like 'fluey'.
I was like 'Oh, I'm getting that flu that everyone's got.
That's alright, we're going home tomorrow'," Stacey told her fans. "So I carried on and then as the day went on it just felt worse and worse." Stacey said she told her husband Joe Swash, 41, to take their five children out to dinner while she attempted to sleep off her illness. However, when Joe returned from his outing he quickly grew concerned about Stacey and proceeded to call her mum and older sister Jemma.
Jemma, who is a nurse, came in to see Stacey and was visibly concerned, with the star then realising that something "serious" must be wrong. "So, they called the medical team inside the hotel and the nurse came down, took one look at me and was like 'Put an oxygen mask on'," Stacey continued.
The nurse then told Stacey she needed to go to the hospital. She said she was then hooked up to an IV drip and given plenty of fluids.
