The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is once again delighted to support the Scottish Education Awards, as they celebrate the very best achievements of our young people, our schools, and our teachers up and down the country.
SQA is proud to sponsor the Making a Difference Award (Secondary), which recognises the schools that transform the life-chances of the young people and communities they serve.
Finalists in the category this year are Arbroath High School, Braes High School in Falkirk, and St Modan’s High School in Stirling.
SQA wishes them and all the other finalists the best of luck at the award ceremony on Wednesday, June 7.
SQA qualifications have always been developed with learners in mind, allowing young people to develop their knowledge and understanding, and demonstrate their skills and experience no matter what level they are working at, or what qualification they are working towards.
This year, almost 130,000 candidates sat exams for National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher courses in schools and colleges throughout Scotland. But that is only part of the story.
Every year, thousands of learners work towards a huge range of practical and vocational qualifications including Skills for Work courses, Awards, National Certificates, and National Progression Awards.
These qualifications – covering subjects as diverse as Mental Health and Wellbeing, Leadership, Employability, and Volunteering – support young people in reaching their full potential as they progress through school to college, university, apprenticeships, other learning, training, and employment.
