Jessie J has revealed she's now "unemployed" after leaving her music label of 17 years, Republic Records, four months after giving birth to her first baby son Sky, whom she opened up about her struggles over parenting alone recently.
The 35 year old star shared a statement on her Instagram page updating her fans on the situation, calling it a "rollercoaster" as she looks to the future. The pop singer, who suffers with Meniere's disease, who shares her little boy with basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, explained that she is determined to continue releasing music, but wants to do it on "her own terms". She also admitted that becoming a mother made her give "zero f**ks" about disappointing other people and she is prioritising herself and her son going forward.
After nearly two decades releasing chart-topping hits for the industry great, Jessie is happy with her decision and simply being "honest" with who she is. "My lawyer said that I need to make a statement about the decision that I have made," the star began in her video, as she filmed herself during a walk in the woods. "I don't want it to feel like a huge, big thing.
After 17 years I have decided to leave Republic Records. I was about six months pregnant when I made this decision. Monte and Avery Lipman, and Jason Flomm have been so gracious and kind in supporting my decision and letting me go." "It's been the most amazing high and low ride of my life," the singer continued.
