Sinead O'Connor's final social media post references the tragic loss of her 17-year-old son who she called the 'love of her life'.
The music legend's family confirmed her death at the age of 56 on Wednesday night, as floods of fans have paid tribute across the world. Sinead's son Shane died by suicide in January 2022 after going missing for a few days.
Responding to a tweet by the Inspirational Quotes account asking, “Tell me how your life is going using emojis,” the late Irish musician shared 10 crying faces with the hashtag, “lostmy17yrOldSonToSuicidein2022” last week.
“Been living as undead night creature since,” she wrote. “He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.”
She added: “I am lost in the bardo without him.”
Shane escaped suicide watch in an Irish hospital the day before he passed away as he had been hospitalized for two previous attempts. In an emotional tweet, Sinead confirmed her son's sad passing.
"My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace," she wrote.
While he was missing, Sinead urged her followers to help find her son and encouraged him to get in touch with police so they could help him.
"Shane, your life is precious," she tweeted. "God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself."
She added: "Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital. This is a message for my son,
