Turning the power off can actually wreak havoc with your internet speeds, with the many Internet Service Providers using the wee hours to carry out vital updates on routers. And if these updates are not completed due to the power being switched off pesky bugs and even data-stealing malware can invade your connection.
Aman Bhatti, Director of Propositions, Sky Broadband explained: "We know our routers are put through their paces during the day – whether on video calls, streaming the latest show, or online gaming. That’s why our routers run firmware updates during the night, to avoid any unnecessary disruption during the day, reports the Mirror.
"Switching off your router overnight can affect automatic software updates and optimisations which in turn can impact the overall performance, speed and stability of your Broadband."
Switching off overnight could actually result in firms placing speed restrictions on broadband as they opt to keep you connected opposed to putting you offline as they run updates during the day.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic It’s beyond obvious that women deserve a movie that portrays and celebrates them in their sixties and seventies reveling in the joys of romantic adventure and uninhibited sex. It’s not so obvious that they deserved “Book Club,” the 2018 comedy about four hale, hearty, and prosperous senior friends who read “Fifty Shades of Grey” in their monthly literary white-wine klatsch, only to discover that E.L. You could use a whole Thesaurus paragraph of withering descriptives to evoke the sort of movie “Book Club” was. It was prefab, it was cookie-cutter, it was paint-by-numbers, it was broad enough to play to the peanut gallery, it was four glorified sitcoms jammed into one overly synthetic package.
