The legal age of marriage has been increased in England and Wales, with people now having to be a minimum of 18 years old to tie the knot.
In Scotland, the legal age to marry is still 16, however, you must first need parental consent, according to Citizens Advice.
From Monday, February 27, 16 and 17-year-olds can no longer wed or enter a civil partnership in England or Wales – even with parental consent – in an effort to better protect children from forced marriage.
The change, under the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act, means it is now a crime to exploit vulnerable children by arranging for them to marry under any circumstances, whether or not force was used.
The law will cover non-legally binding “traditional” ceremonies which would still be viewed as marriages by the parties and their families, the Government said.

Campaigners have hailed this as a positive step towards protecting vulnerable children from being forced into marriage.
Justice Secretary Dominic Raab said: "This law will better protect vulnerable young people, by cracking down on forced marriage in our society."
Marriage is a devolved matter, so any changes to current legislation would have to be brought in by the Scottish Government.
We want to hear your thoughts. Do you think the legal marriage age should rise from 16 to 18 in Scotland? Let us know in the comments below.

the 2023 Oscars -- it's impossible not to think back on last year's Academy Awards, which honored plenty of impressive achievements in film, but was overshadowed by the now-infamous incident in which Will Smith stormed the stage to hit Chris Rock in the face over a joke Rock made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The moment was the most jaw-dropping awards show incident since the Best Picture mixup of 2017, with many in the room wondering if it was a staged bit, before the uncomfortable silence stretched into realization.
