Gregg Anderson, 30, died on Boxing Day 2021 at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after being jailed in 2018 for killing 68-year-old Linda Dunn at a retail park in Leven, Fife,
Anderson, who was serving a six year sentence at HMP Glenochil had been admitted to the hospital two months prior for a bone marrow transplant.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the killer's death is now set to be carried out. A preliminary hearing will take place in January with the full inquiry set to take place at a later date.
Anderson, from East Wemyss, Fife had been behind the wheel of a white Mazda motor when it crashed into Linda on October 29, 2017.
Emergency services raced to the scene but she was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.
Anderson’s girlfriend, Tiegan Carruthers, initially claimed she had been driving the car and was witnessed screaming, crying and saying she was “going to jail” moments after the crash.
Anderson initially told police that his partner was unable to open her door after the crash so he had climbed over and done it for her before exiting the vehicle.
