Shawn Levy is talking Deadpool 3!

During the conversation, he spoke about his experience with Deadpool 3, and how that is informing his upcoming Star Wars movie.

“When Kathy Kennedy brought me on board to make a Star Wars movie, her central mandate to me was ‘I want a Shawn Levy movie. I want a story and a tone that reflects you and your taste and what you bring to your movies — with a ‘Star Wars’ story.’ So I have felt extremely empowered. We are in early days, unfortunately, because the development process was abruptly paused [due to the WGA strike], but I feel very empowered to trust my instincts in the development of this story and movie,” he said.
“The experience that I’m currently having with Marvel on Deadpool is showing me firsthand that it is indeed really possible to feel empowered and personal about making a movie within a universe that is bigger than any one film,” he went on.
“My Deadpool movie is turning out to be exactly what Ryan [Reynolds] and I had hoped when we started off. So I’m going into the development of my Star Wars movie with a similar optimism, and faith that my instincts will be allowed to lead the way.”
The movie features the return of the iconic character Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman. In a new interview, Shawn weighed in on if the movie was still on track for its May 3 release date. He also addressed whispers that Taylor Swift was set to join the cast in an exciting role. Here’s what he said!
Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy is using a key Star Wars scene as the inspiration for what he wants to do in his new film.
Don’t go into Netflix‘s adaptation of All The Light We Cannot See expecting it to be a direct translation of Anthony Doerr’s bestselling novel.
The final season of Stranger Things is still on pause, but even as the principal cast gets older, executive producer Shawn Levy doesn’t think the team will need to go to any extreme lengths to de-age them.
Season one of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” came out of nowhere and became a pop culture phenomenon fast in the summer of 2016. By this point, Netflix had already had a big hit with 2013’s “House Of Cards,” which earned the company its first Emmy nominations.
Taylor Swift is having a superstar-filled afternoon.
With “All The Light We Cannot See” hitting Netflix next week, Shawn Levy is making the press rounds to promote his miniseries. And that gives him a chance to talk about his upcoming projects, too, like “Deadpool 3” and the “Star Wars” project he has in development.
Shawn Levy stopped by “Happy Sad Confused” to promote his new film “All The Light You Cannot See,” but he talked about loads of other stuff, too. And yes, Marvel fans, he talked a lot about his upcoming MCU installment, “Deadpool 3.” When prompted about how much heart and emotion the film might have, perhaps a little facetiously, Levy quipped back, “there’s a f*ckload more than you think.” Sounds like the third “Deadpool” film may be the best so far.
At this point, given the ongoing SAG-AFTRA guild strike, who knows when Shawn Levy will shoot “Stranger Things” Season 5? But the longer the wait to shoot the Netflix show’s final season, the older its troupe of once-child actors will look. Fear not, says Levi: EW reports (via Variety) that the director and series executive producer promises he’ll use “all the tools available to us” to keep the “Stranger Things” teen looking like, well, teens, even if they’re in their early twenties.
It’s Ryan Reynolds‘ birthday, and the actor is stepping out to celebrate with Shawn Levy!
As you’re probably aware, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm are at an inflection point. Having pivoted towards streaming for several years, “The Mandalorian,” etc., “Star Wars” Celebration earlier this year indicated that the new future would return to cinemas, announcing three “Star Wars” movies by Dave Filoni, one formerly from Damon Lindelof that will include Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker, and a prequel set in ancient Jedi times from filmmaker James Mangold.
Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Shawn Levy, whose limited series “All The Light We Cannot See” is premiering on Netflix on Nov. 2, was supposed to have a packed year, between the filming “Deadpool 3” and Season 5 of “Stranger Things” of which he’s an executive producer and director. With both productions paused due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, Levy has instead been busy promoting “All the Light We Cannot See,” an adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
Taylor Swift will join the cast of Deadpool 3 are rife, but is there any truth to them? It’s long been speculated now that the singer will feature in the film as musical mutant Dazzler, a rumour that began all the way back in 2016 when Swift’s likeness was used for the character’s album cover in a scene from X-Men: Apocalypse. While nothing came of those rumours back then, Swifties may now have a more legitimate reason to believe that she’ll be making her MCU debut alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.Swift’s involvement in the upcoming film has neither been confirmed nor denied. However, the pop megastar was recently spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs versus New York Jets football game with Reynolds, Jackman and director Shawn Levy, sending speculation into overdrive. In an interview with TheWrap, Levy was asked if fans should read into this, but the director remained tight-lipped.“They sure are loud,” Levy said of the rumours.
As the SAG-AFTRA strike nears 100 days, many wonder how long the guild and the AMPTP will be at odds and how badly it will affect next year’s theatrical release calendar. Only a handful of Fall 2023 releases got pushed to 2024 so far, the big one being Denis Villeneuve‘s “Dune: Part Two,” but it’s 2024 releases halted mid-production that are most concerning.
There are a lot of rumors that Taylor Swift is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka the MCU) as Dazzler, a pop sensation superhero often linked with the X-Men series.
Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “All the Light We Cannot See” is a lyrically structured book, a story that moves back and forth through time and POV, using short chapters that read more like poetry than prose. In other words, it’s a really tough book to adapt for the big or small screen.
It’s interesting to see how far the film and TV industry has changed in the last few years—lurching forward even further during COVID to what many would think would be the #AgeOfStreaming, only to discover the bottom line of producing expensive shows vs. subscriber profit wasn’t making the return on investment they hoped.
Daniel Radcliffe has finally reacted to fan rumors that he might be the next Wolverine, noting that there is simply no truth to the theory.“No,” Radcliffe, 34, confirmed during a Vanity Fair lie detector interview with his “Merrily We Roll Along” costars Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. When asked by Mendez if he got buff for no reason, he laughed.“Yes. I got buff because I am obsessive, and I want to… You’ve seen my parents, they’re like insane fitness people,” he said.
According to Marvel, “the louder the source, the more powerful the output. This can manifest in a variety of different ways. Dazzler began by creating her own light shows, but learned that she could blind people with it.
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness may have divorced, but they are still celebrating milestones with each other. According to Page Six insides, the former couple celebrated his 55th birthday last night in Midtown Manhattan, New York, saying it looked like a “happy” time.Jackman, who recently went on a bike ride, chose the Polo Bar for his birthday festivities, which is described as a Handsome American restaurant by designer Ralph Lauren, serving classic dishes, bar bites & drinks.
Taylor Swift takes the theatrical box office by storm this weekend with “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.” And with $100 million made already in pre-sales, it’s the highest-grossing concert film of all-time before its opening weekend comes to a close. But EW reports that “Deadpool 3” director Shawn Levy thinks this is only the beginning of cinematic success for the pop star icon.
