Manchester City's recent transfer record suggests they will prioritise a move for Erling Haaland this summer rather than return for Harry Kane, according to former Blues winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Argentinian forward Julian Alvarez was signed in January and will join the pre-season squad in the summer.
Wright-Phillips, however, believes another striker should still be targeted this summer. And if it comes down to a choice between Haaland and Kane, he thinks the younger man is likely to be prioritised given the profile of signing City usually target.

Speaking to Lord Ping, Wright-Phillips said City still need a new striker, and will hope for whoever arrives to have a similar impact to Ruben Dias.
“City have already signed one striker [Alvarez], who’s meant to be fantastic," he said.
"I haven’t seen too much of him, but he’s meant to be similar to Sergio Aguero. Everyone’s talking about Haaland and it would be great to have him there, and it would just be great to see that number nine on the pitch more than anything.
“If I look at City’s transfers over the years, most of the players they’ve bought are under the age of 26. So I would see City going for Haaland more than Kane at this time.
"If you’re going to start spending that sort of money on one player, you should be looking at the longevity of what you’re going to get in return. If Haaland can slot into the Premier League the way
