A second pre-inquest review has been opened into the death of a teenager who died in a crash after reportedly failing to stop for police.
Devonte Scott, 18, was driving a Ford Fiesta which hit two cars in Stretford on May 16 last year. The Manchester Evening News has already reported police watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched an 'extensive' investigation into the crash.
At a pre-inquest review hearing held last August, representatives for the IOPC said officers were 'some 20-plus seconds' behind Mr Scott at the time and confirmed it was a 'failure to stop'.
Referring to the upcoming five day inquest where a jury will be present Ms Mutch told the family: "The jury will make their own minds up based on the evidence, not the view of the IOPC who have made a good job of investigating and gathering material."
The family will be represented by solicitor Mike Pemberton, who was present at the review and described how footage not played in court had shown how the first collision with a Mercedes had sent the Ford Fiesta "air borne."
