Police have launched a search for a Scots woman who hasn't been seen for two days - as her 'broken' mum pleads for good news.
Melanie Gibson has been missing from the Carron Place area of Irvine in Ayrshire since around 2.40pm on Tuesday September 27. She is described as around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and with long dark hair, though police have not issued a description of the clothing she was wearing at the time.
Her mum Amanda Wainwright said in a social media post that she was "broken" waiting for news on her daughter. Her initial appeal for information has been retweeted over 2,000 times since she posted it earlier on Thursday.
She tearfully told the Record: "Everyone has been so brilliant, sharing it, and I don't know how to thank them enough. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that she comes home soon."
Amanda believes that Melanie may have been in Kilwinning sometime on Tuesday afternoon. Officers in Ayrshire have launched a missing person probe.
Sergeant Melanie Fraser said: “I am asking anyone who may have seen Melanie since Tuesday afternoon or have any information on her whereabouts to please come forward. Likewise, if Melanie sees this appeal, please get in touch with either us or your family who just want to know that you are safe and well.
“If you believe you can assist our efforts to trace Melanie, please call 101, quoting incident 2877 of 28 September.”
