Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has broken his silence after CCTV footage from 2016 emerged which appeared to show the rapper allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. In a video uploaded to his Instagram account on Sunday, 19 May, Diddy said that he took “full responsibility” for his actions in the footage and explained that he was “disgusted” by how he’d behaved and that his behaviour was “inexcusable”. “It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he said in the video as he spoke directly to the camera while looking sombre and wearing a beige T-shirt.
“I was f***** up - I mean I hit rock bottom - but l make no excuses. My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.
I was disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now,” he explained.
The musician added: “I went and I sought out professional help.
I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry.
But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry.” Diddy’s apology comes after CNN released surveillance footage from 5 March 2016 from the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
37 year old Cassie came forward with allegations against Diddy in November 2023. However, the pair settled the lawsuit out of court in a timely manner.
The footage, which was released by CNN, seems to show the pair in an altercation which appears to corroborate the incidents Cassie described in her lawsuit.
